Therapy Approach
Collaborative
You’ll have agency and control over your sessions. Even though we may create goals together, I will ask you at the beginning of each session what you want to focus on. I want to help you use your voice and advocate for your needs. Choosing what you want to focus on each week is a part of that.
Somatics/Embodiment
We will bring somatic tools and explore embodiment in our journey together. What this means is that we will be moving away from patterns of intellectualizing and tuning in towards the language of our nervous system which is driven by sensation, touch, and movement.
Parts Work
We will be exploring some of your parts by using an IFS approach. IFS is an evidence-based psychotherapy approach that is non-pathologizing. We will get to know your inner system and how these parts have been working for you, and what they may need to heal.
Emotions & Attachment
We will explore emotions and attachments. We will work on understanding these; we will get familiar with them, and we will do it slowly and gently as we don’t have to feel it all at once.
Who do you work with?
Women who may experience anxiety, depression, disordered eating, sexual trauma, low self-esteem, body image concerns, chronic pain, digestive issues, endometriosis, and hormonal imbalances. I have particular expertise in somatic and embodiment modalities that help navigate grief, stuckness, panic, perfectionism, and behavioral challenges related to asserting boundaries and people-pleasing.
Although I specialize in working with female-identifying individuals, I have experience working with clients of all gender identities and I am LGBTQIA+ affirming. I offer a safe space regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, religion, or ability. I pride myself on integrating multiculturally competent treatment practices into my work.
I also speak Spanish and welcome clients seeking therapy in English or Spanish.
Is therapy right for me?
-
It's normal to feel scared before meeting a new therapist! We will work on creating a comfortable safe space for you. We will go at the pace that feels right for you. In each session you will have agency and control over your sessions and how much you share.
-
Before scheduling a therapy session, I do a free 15 minute intro call with all potential new clients. This gives us the chance to get to know each other. Here’s what you can expect:
I’ll ask you about why you’re seeking therapy
I’ll tell you a bit about myself and my approach as a therapist
You can ask me any questions that I didn’t cover
We’ll talk about rates, insurance, availability, etc.
-
If we both decide we're a good fit after our intro call, we'll schedule our first therapy appointment. I'll send you a couple of quick forms to complete before our first session. I'll also send you a link for our video calls that you can use every week.
-
I Integrate somatic, IFS and embodiment skills that take our session beyond talk therapy and into the body.
-
For the first 6-8 weeks, I strongly recommend that you work we me weekly. This allows me to get to know you and for us to build rapport. After that, if you would like to change the frequency of our sessions, please bring it up to me; treatment, should work according to your needs. Ultimately it is up to you to decide how often you attend therapy.
-
The duration of your treatment is individualized based on your needs. This will be a collaborative process from beginning to end.
-
We will briefly go over the intake forms that you completed electronically. I will spend the majority of the time getting to know you at a pace that is comfortable for our developing relationship—these initial questions & our discussion will likely continue through the second session. We will discuss goals and expectations. Please feel free to ask questions or bring a list of concerns or topics you would like to cover.
